Turkish stock exchange down 1.7% at week’s close

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Friday at 4,812.93 points, falling 1.7% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 4,876.23 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 83.14 points compared to the previous close of 4,896.07.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 4,790.68, while its daily high was 4,881.75.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 3.97 trillion Turkish liras ($207.45 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 48 billion Turkish liras ($2.53 billion).

During the day, 17 stocks on the index rose and 82 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,996.95, while Brent crude oil sold for around $79.6 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 19.1895, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.8620, while a British pound traded for 23.7250 Turkish liras.
