More than 400 people have died in the seven days of conflict between the army and the RSF paramilitary led by two powerful commanders who had earlier orchestrated a coup together in 2019.
Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Taredisho says at least 18 of the militants and three civilians were killed in the fighting early on Saturday in the central region of Galgadud,
Police said that the early Friday morning attack took place in the Ngor-Okpala area of Imo State, where the Indigenous People of Biafra separatist group and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, are active.
Saudi foreign ministry says more than 150 people -- including 91 Saudi citizens and around 66 nationals from 12 other countries -- were among those who were evacuated by boats even as the army and paramilitary RSF continue to battle for supremacy.
The ministry of foreign affairs said that besides Turkish citizens, “third country citizens who request assistance in this regard are also included" in the evacuation plan.
Fighting raged on Sunday in Khartoum as well as in Omdurman, the city across the Nile from the capital, despite a declared truce that was to coincide with the three-day Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
