Man United defender Martinez to miss rest of season due to injury

Manchester United confirmed on Friday that Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after fracturing a bone in his foot.

“The Argentinian defender is expected to make a full recovery in time to be ready for the start of next season,” the Red Devils said in a statement.

Martinez, 25, sustained the injury to his metatarsal bone on Thursday, in a 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Europa League.

Man U also said that defender Raphael Varane, who went off with an injury at half-time in the same clash, is expected to be out for a few weeks.
