The Saudi Arabia National Football Team head coach Herve Renard has left the team, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) said Wednesday.
SAFF said the board of directors agreed to terminate the contract of the Frenchman after his request.
A statement added that a legal settlement has been reached to end the contract and the president and the federation wished success to Renard in the future.
Renard confirmed his departure, thanked fans and all who supported him during his journey, with footage published on SAFF’s Twitter account.
The Renard-helmed Saudi Arabia team shocked the world by defeating the Lionel Messi-led Argentina club 2-1 in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Argentina would later win the tournament.
Renard, 54, won two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles, with Zambia in 2012 and Ivory Coast in 2015.
